JEN BROWN | SCULPTURE | Medusa Doll

The Medusa Doll is a manifestation of characters that appear or are hidden in my work somewhat often. Two sides of the same coin, they embody a topsy-turvy doll, which became popular during productions of Uncle Tom's Cabin. I have always loved the symmetry between characters who interact so directly, yet are opposites: without each other, they would each cease to exist.

I did go on to write the Medusa Doll as a one-woman puppet show. I failed to perform it because, as it turned out, I'm not an actress.
